For parents
Cheek Puff Hamster is a calm care game for children, teens and adults. We built it to follow the Google Play Families policy. Here is what you should know before your child plays.
No account, data stays on the phone
There is no sign-in and no account. The hamster, its name, the coins and all progress are saved on the phone. We do not ask for your child's name, email, photos or location.
Android may back up the game to your own Google account, so progress is not lost on a new phone. You can turn this off in the phone's settings.
Year of birth and three profiles
On first start, the game asks only for the year of birth, from a neutral list with no preselected year. The game uses it on the phone to pick safe settings:
- Child (under 13): only child-safe ads, no personalisation, no advertising ID; real-money purchases are off.
- Teen (13 up to the digital-consent age of your country, for example 16 in Spain): ads without personalisation.
- Adult: ads follow the adult's choice in Google's consent form where the law requires one.
If Google Play tells the game an age range, the game can only make the profile stricter, never looser. You can change the year of birth later in Settings → For grown-ups.
Ads: optional and child-safe
The only ad is an optional video the player chooses to watch for coins (at most 3 a day). There are no pop-up ads and no ads while caring for the hamster.
Ads come from Google AdMob, which takes part in Google's program for family-safe ads. For children, ads are not personalised, the highest content rating is G (general audiences), and the advertising ID is not used.
Purchases need a grown-up
Everything in the game can be earned by playing. A grown-up can also buy coin packs, a starter pack or “No ads” through Google Play.
- For a child profile, real-money purchases are off until a grown-up switches them on in Settings → For grown-ups.
- For children and teens, a parent check appears before every purchase: a multiplication question written in words, answered in digits.
- Prices in coins show the approximate price in euros next to them. There are no loot boxes, no random paid rewards and no countdown offers.
- Restore purchases in the grown-ups' section brings back “No ads” on a new phone.
You can also protect purchases in the Google Play app itself (Settings → Authentication → Require authentication for purchases).
The “For grown-ups” section
This section is behind the same parent check. It shows the current profile and lets you switch purchases on or off, set a break reminder, change the year of birth, read this information, send us an email and delete the game data.
Healthy play time
- Break reminder: after 30, 60 or 90 minutes of play, the hamster gently suggests a rest (or choose “off”).
- Gentle reminders: if you switch them on, at most 2 notifications a day and never between 21:00 and 09:00.
- Less motion: a setting that makes the hamster and the cage move less.
- No punishment for breaks: the hamster never dies and nothing is lost if your child stops playing for a while.
Real hamster care tips
The game shows true care facts. If your family has a real hamster, these help:
- A sand bath, never a bath in water.
- Spot-clean the toilet corner often and change only part of the bedding at a time.
- Give chew sticks: hamster teeth never stop growing.
- Syrian hamsters must live alone. Some small dwarf hamsters can share a cage, but only if they grew up together.
- Hamsters sleep in the day. Let them wake up by themselves.
For real pets, always follow a vet's advice.
